Being a caregiver of those with intellectual disabilities and/or those with developmental disabilities can be both rewarding and challenging. This toolkit is designed to provide families with strategies to help individuals navigate their needs and balance them with the needs of their loved one. This toolkit outlines one mother's quest for resources and activities for her son with autism at no or little cost. Adults living in Canada are used to making decisions about their own lives, whether it be where to live, what to eat, what to wear, or how to spend their money. Canadians understand free decision-making to be one of our basic rights. People with disabilities are no exception.
