Introduction to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

This presentation introduces Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) as a way to communicate outside of spoken communication with a particular focus on the neurodiversity perspective. We will dive into what AAC is, who is a good candidate, AAC and language development, and how one might effectively teach someone to use AAC in their natural environment.

Annelie Thurler, MSc. R. SLP A

Annelie has her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology. She works with children of all ages and defends that communication is more than words. She is also a slow knitter.

 

 

 

Iman Somji, MSc. R. SLP

Iman completed her Masters in Speech-Langauge Pathology from Syracuse, NY. She has a passion for helping people find their voice with any modality of their choice. In her free time, you can find her colouring with a matcha latte and rewatching Harry Potter
