How to Prepare for Periods and Teach Youth and Young Teens with Autism the Skills They Need

Getting your period can be a confusing and challenging time for youth with ASD. Sensory challenges, coping with changes in the body, and a lack of resources/support can all present some barriers. Preparing youth for this change is vital and this workshop will cover strategies, tips, and tools to make it less daunting. This workshop will discuss:

• tools and strategies to start preparing for changes associated with menstruation

• where to begin teaching skills needed to manage menstruation and menstruation products

• possible challenges and common questions associated with menstruation
